SA (SupportAssist) FAQ

All, the newest version of SA does not support RDP.

If you get stuck with SA or need any help, let our users know here in the forum. There are just a few steps to consider prior posting.

  1. Check the manuals SA for PCs 
  2. SA uninstall/reinstall
  3. Watch our webinars (dell.com/webinars)
  4. Post your device type in subject line together with the main concern (e.g. XPS 15 9575, SA stops working)
  5. Describe as detailed as possible the issue you're facing

Changing the startup type for Dell SupportAssist Remediation Service from Automatic (Delayed start) to Manual seems to fix several issues.
* Press Windows key + R
* Type services.msc [press Enter or click OK]
* Find and open Dell SupportAssist Remediation
* Change Startup type: to Manual
* Click Apple- OK
* Restart the PC when done

SA fails to install, workaround

Uninstall any previous builds of SupportAssist using the MS Install Uninstall Tool and restart the system.
2. .NET Runtime 6.0.9 is a pre-requisite for SA v3.12.x to install successfully. It needs to be installed before installing SA using MSI and MSP files
  Link to .NET Runtime Installer (Version 6.0.9).
  If your PC is already on .NET runtime 6.0.10 or higher version, then uninstall .NET runtime 6.0.10 (or higher version) first and install .NET runtime 6.0.9 using the above link.
3. Install SupportAssist using MSI and MSP files (Links below):
