AdwCleaner Usage Instructions:
Using AdwCleaner is very simple. Simply download the program and run it.  You will then be presented with a screen that contains a Search and Delete button.  The Search button will cause AdwCleaner to search your computer for unwanted programs and then display a log showing the various files, folders, and registry entries used by these programs.

To delete these unwanted programs simply click on the Delete button, which will cause AdwCleaner to reboot your computer and remove the files and registry entries associated with the various adware that you are removing.  On reboot, AdwCleaner will display a log showing the files, folders, and registry entries that were removed.

Comments:

Well, I researched all these deleted entries, folders and keys, and sure enough all were related to adware, PUPS, the ASK toolbar, or other unwanted junk. I suspect they are all but remnants and traces, that my registry will not miss. (It's amazing the junk one acquires with an 8 year old operating system. Even when you think you have never been infected).

Based on my experience, I believe AdwCleaner to be a potentially useful utility.

Joe53.

I can tell you that AdwCleaner is used constantly in Avast! Viruses and Worms Forum. As a matter of fact it is the first tool Essexboy, Avast! and G2G specialist and instructor in removal of malware, asks to be run to assist in the removal of malware.

It is an exellent tool to get rid of those pesky toolbars and adwares like the infamous Babylon. I have read dozens of topics where AdwCleaner has been run and it has deleted a bunch of unwanted junk, like you said above, without ill effect to the system.

I have also run it in my system a couple of time. The first time found a bunch of orphan entries, files and keys. I recommend it just to see what is lurking around that you do not know. Now it is up to the user to delete what it finds. Remember, AdwCleaner is going to eliminate any PUP or toolbar that it is not accredited.

Regards.
