Typical SCAM:   Neither Microsoft nor Dell (nor any other PC manufacturer) will ever call you to advise you that you have a virus on your machine.

Guess that answers your question about being real or not. :emotion-5:

Sometimes they'll say "Dell", other times "HP". They go after the major brands with the odds they'll guess right.

at this rate the truth is i have no trust in dell anymore

its all out sourced , you dont know if its dell or not

these people knew my name and number

i made a complaint with the proper authorities

Anybody can find your name and phone number just about anywhere these days. There are enough online resources to find that info instantly (eg, reverse lookup directories, etc.)

The key question is if they have your Service Tag. Next time, you might want to ask them for the Service Tag of the machine. Do not tell them your Service Tag or confirm / deny they have the right Service Tag. If they do have it, that's when you really need to contact Dell.

Never believe in any calls from strangers. They just want to scam you.
