BIOS update warning: bios update failed as bios requires password. please remove password.

Latitude 3520

Latitude 3520

Hi Dell,

first of all, I have Vostro 5515, not a Latitude 3520 as stated in my products!

As you can see in the picture, I cannot install BIOS firmware 1.13. The error indicates that my BIOS is password protected while it is not. Both the Admin password and System password is not set in the BIOS.

I have managed to solve my issue by downloading
https://dl.dell.com/FOLDER08988435M/1/Inspiron_Vostro_5415_5515_1.13.0.exe

Then just run! No need for USB images ...

Installing a PC BIOS update from a USB thumb drive is the safest process.

How to flash the BIOS on a Dell Desktop or Notebook with a USB thumb drive

I do not install a PC BIOS update "through" any software (Dell Update Application, SupportAssist, Windows Updates, etc.). IF I install a BIOS update, it is via the above F12--> OTHER OPTIONS --> BIOS Flash Update.

I'm having the same problem with the latest BIOS update for my XPS 8930 -- won't run because it's password protected. Never had this problem before.
