Vostro 5501 and WD19 intermittent screen blanking
Hi,
So I've got an issue where Vostro 5501s have the seemingly age old issue of the monitor going blank for a few seconds for no apparent reason. Sometimes it does it every few seconds, sometimes it goes an hour without doing it.
I plug an XPS (9560 or 7590) into the same dock / configuration, no problem.
I can recreate this issue with all my Vostro 5501s.
The monitor in use is a Dell P2419H.
Things I've tried:
- Latest Intel driver (both Dells and Intels releases)
- Latest Vostro 5501 BIOS
- Latest WD19 firmware
- Various cables (switching between HDMI / DP)
- Various refresh rates (50 / 59 / 60)
The dock compatability sheet shows WD19 is applicable for the Vostro 5501, so I'm baffled. If the screen is plugged directly into the laptop, it behaves fine, but this kind of defaults the point in the dock...
Any ideas?

Please go to the Intel site and download/install the latest Intel Graphics driver.

I have got same issue with many Vostro 5501 computers and WD19 docking stations.
Have you solved this issue ?

Nope - I've been going around in circles for the last 3 months with Dell and even had replacement hardware sent out ...that has exactly the same problem.
The laptops are definitely the problem; the dock / monitor work absolutely fine on every model OTHER than Vostro 5501 I've tested with.

I started this problem after upgrading the latest firmware for WD19. So I suspect this could be a problem with firmware.
