converting a vxrail cluster running on version 7.0.241 from 2 uplinks to 4 uplinks 10gbs
HELLO ALL,
I have an inquiry regarding converting a 2 running VxRail clusters the first cluster contains 4 nodes P570 and the second contains 6 nodes P570. two clusters are hybrid. and the 2 cluster are configured with 2 uplinks from each node (2x10gb) and customer intend to convert it to become (4x10gb) uplinks. the 2 clusters version is 7.0.241
Is this scenario applicable for this case and if it is applicable where can i find this procedure as i tried to search for it in solve but didn't find any. also if there is any procedure or method will be disruptive or will need to take downtime as the 2 clusters are running production environment and VMs.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Thanks for your question about VXrail networking. Here are some guides for the networking. https://infohub.delltechnologies.com/t/guides-80/ It should be fine to add the NICs.
Let us know if you have any additional questions.

I only see steps for physically adding NICs in solve and initial configuration, not adding NICs after deployment. In the networking guide https://dell.to/3PDz2ex Page 23
"Adding Ethernet ports beyond the ports initially reserved for VxRail networking
is not supported after the cluster is configured and operational."

Did you ever get an answer. I'll be looking into this shortly as i have 5nodes in 2x10Gb that was incorrectly setup from the start and should of been 4x10gb.

I feel like there are some conditional 'yes' answers in SolVe. Both of these articles are under the VxRail Procedures > Miscellaneous > 'How To' Procedures > Change other VxRail Cluster settings, and are visible for the 7.0.241 version.
"Change Physical NIC Ports of VM Network Traffic" shows how to add additional PCIe uplinks to your existing virtual distributed switch and then move VM traffic (not VxRail system traffic) to them.
"How to enable NIC redundancy across NDC-PCIe Ports" shows how to add additional PCIe uplinks to your existing virtual switch and then distribute VxRail system traffic and VM traffic across the NDC and PCIe adapters. This is a non-disruptive procedure, as it moves only one of the failover uplinks to the PCIe port, leaving the NDC port continuously connected.
I would be surprised if these procedures could not also be followed to add unused NDC ports to the virtual distributed switch, but best contact support if that is your case.
