Thunderbolt 4 Add-on to XPS 8940
Hello!
At a Dell Sales Reps's recommendation, I purchased the Thunderbolt 4 PCIe Card (540-BDCB) for my desktop. The Rep insisted thattl this card will work "perfectly" in my unit, but I'm having trouble. I installed the card, plugged the Display Port cable in, and downloaded drivers recommended by Dell. Nothing.
Am I missing something simple?
Thanks!

Dell parts documentation is horrible as they listed this card to be c/w 7090 Micro.
nevertheless I do not see any TB driver released by Dell for 8940. The only XPS that Dell released TB driver for is 8930. Not sure which driver you downloaded and installed. afaik most Dell TB support are geared for optiplex series.

Yes, that's why I specifically asked twice to ensure that it would work in my machine!
I downloaded simply the drivers it recommended I update. I saw nothing specific to Thunderbolt.

Re: I saw nothing specific to Thunderbolt.
without Dell specific TB driver c/w your pc model, it would not work. Unfortunately sales does not know what they are talking about apparently. So yes take chino’s advice return it.

The only solution to your issue is contact Dell for RMA for returning.
