XPS 8930, BIOS 1.1.26 fails
I just tried installing Dell's new BIOS for my 8930 (Windows 11). It fails every time.
I tried using the Dell Update app, which fails shortly after it says "installing" on the screen; and I also tried downloading the exe file from the Dell support website, but when I start the exe, it immediately fails.
I have never had a problem installing any of the other BIOS updates. Is there a problem with this update? Is anyone else having the same issue? Can anyone offer any suggestions?

I was wrong in my last post. The USB method was successful. I thought it didn't work because the Dell System Information (in Dell update) incorrectly told me that the BIOS was 1.1.24. After I exited and restarted Dell Update it reported the BIOS as 1.1.26. So the USB method was successful.
I agree that you are better off not installing a BIOS update through the Windows environment. The USB method accomplishes that, and does not use Windows at all.
For the others that had the same issue, please try the USB method of flashing the BIOS.

What BIOS version is your XPS-8930 running now?
It's better to install them all (meaning any missing ones), in order. Click "Other Available Versions" to see them.
Download this file.
Go to File Properties and un-block it
Run it.
It will write the firmware to the computer's UEFI Environment work-space.
Reboot.
Firmware should install on next startup.

Finally, if the computer is working properly, there is no reason to update the BIOS (especially if out-of-warranty).

I am trying to upgrade from 1.1.24 (which I believe is the previous version). I have already tried installing the XPS8930_1.1.26.exe file that you linked in the previous post. When I start that exe file (run as administrator) it immediately exits back to the Windows 11 desktop.
As I said in my original post, the Dell Update programs fails while installing, and as I stated above, the XPS8930_1.1.26.exe file also fails.
Not sure what is going on. Previous BIOS updates have installed without any issues.

I just tried installing the new BIOS using the USB method, and that fails too. It looked like the whole process was executing normally, however when it was done, my BIOS remained at 1.1.24.
This is the USB method that I tried:
Flash using USB method
I also verified the checksum on the XPS8930_1.1.26.exe file, and it was correct.
I recently installed Windows 11. Is there possibly some new security setting that protects the BIOS from being changed (that I have to shut off)?
I would appreciate any suggestions on how to solve this problem!

I just completed the update from 1.1.24 to 1.1.26 with no problems

I did it also the USB way and it updated to version 1.1.26, what i dont understand is that Dell SupportAssist want to install the Bios update and it fails , why does Dell gives the possibility to update the Bios via Support Assist? something is not correct but what ?

@jaccies Click Start>Run> type in msinfo32.exe and click OK. Click System Summary at top left and look in right pane to see BIOS version/date that's actually running.
Sometimes you may see an entry in Device Manager for the prior BIOS version, but as long as msinfo32 shows the right version, that's all that matters. FWIW, I don't see any System Firmware entry for BIOS on my XPS 8930 which is running 1.1.26.
Users seem to be having an issue installing BIOS 1.1.26 using SupportAssist. It should install that way, so perhaps a bug somewhere. Dell is aware...
Even when SupportAssist can install a BIOS update properly, it's still safer to do it using the F12 Flash Update option, entirely outside Windows, because fewer things will be running that could potentially interfere with the update.

I don't see that listed in DM on my XPS 8930 after updating to BIOS 1.1.26:
("Storage Firmware Update" is for Dell's OEM 512 GB (Micron) SSD in my PC, which I installed.
If it bothers you, manually set a System Restore point to be safe. Then open DM and delete that System Firmware 1.1.24 entry and reboot. Since BIOS 1.1.26 is running, according to msinfo32, it's unlikely that deleting the DM entry will cause any problems. Otherwise, just leave it there and don't worry....
IIRC, some XPS 8940 users saw a similar System Firmware entry in DM after one of the BIOS updates on that PC model. Users who deleted it from DM didn't report any problems.
Your PC, your decision...

Given all of the issues installing this (I too have had problems trying it either via the Support Assistant or manually using the downloaded EXE) maybe we should be grateful. I mean, if the installer is buggy, what does that say about the firmware itself?
I'm more accustomed to rolling out BIOS updates to hundreds of Latitudes and Optiplexes in a corp environment, but this XPS is my personal machine and I have to say I'm underwhelmed.

@MisterABDell - I've had no problems with BIOS 1.1.26 on my XPS 8930 after installing it via the F12 Flash Update option with the BIOS .exe file on a USB stick. Boot time (~12 sec) is exactly as it was with BIOS 1.1.24. No crashes, no hardware issues at all, and everything is working OK since the update. Win 10 Reliability Monitor is at 10...
Windows Update has installed a couple of updates under BIOS 1.1.26, and I installed an update for an installed app, all of which ran correctly with BIOS 1.1.26. I also installed a new app that installed correctly with BIOS 1.1.26 too.
As I said, Dell is aware there's an issue with SupportAssist running the BIOS 1.1.26 update, but 1.1.26 was only released a couple of days ago. Probably too soon for them to find/fix the issue. Since the F12 option works, that's the way to avoid whatever the problem is with SupportAssist.
