XPS 8930, intermittent video
A great computer - couldn't wish for better. Suddenly - no video on switch-on. Video board is GTX 1060
After a while, the monitor flicks to the monitor logo - regular on/off flashing. I can hear, but not see, the POST running up (clicks and hard drive noises) and the num-lock and mouse come live. Still no picture beyond the flashing monitor logo.
Turn on/off a few times and flashing logo gets slightly longer and brighter until it suddenly becomes normal, the Dell start-up comes on and the computer works perfectly for the rest of the day. No access to the BIOS via f2, but I wouldn't see it anyway.
Probably a dying GTX 1060, but would appreciate any help, please. Drivers are up-to-date according to AVG.

If you suspect video card on its way out, to prove it, remove the card to test the pc by integrated video. If POST is normal, you can then narrow the suspect to video card. If video issue persists, first replace cmos battery with a new battery and clear cmos settings via motherboard cmos clr jumper.

Yes, first unplug video cable from gtx 1060, uninstall card, then connect video cable to either hdmi (#4) or DP (#3) video port of 8930 back panel.

Many thanks to all responders; your advice was very helpful. After a delay to get new cables, and by removal of the video board, the culprit turned out to be the PSU for the monitor! So basic and a £10 replacement is certainly cheaper than a new GTX 1060.
However, what I did discover was that my computer works just as well without the GTX1060 for my uses (no gaming) but many .jpg's and (don't laugh) my Q&A datavbase. I was brought up on valved equipment, and seem to have stopped at Q&A with my technical knowledge. Should've spotted the PSU failure, though - it was putting out just enough volts to make me think the monitor was live and the computer dead! Again - thanks to all who responded - and I did change the button cell whilst I was in there.

And you may want to change the motherboard battery while you're in there. Remove old battery, press/hold PC power button for ~30 sec and install fresh one...
BTW: Did you recently install a new NVidia driver? Some of their recent updates are causing odd problems, like a blinking screen on my XPS 8930 (OEM GTX 1660Ti GPU), which was fixed by reverting to the previous driver...
