I'm looking to install an M.2 SSD in my XPS 8940, but it seems like I'm missing a screw.
It appears that I would put the screw in the hole labeled 2280, but I don't know where I would get that screw.
There is a screw in the hole labeled 2230, but I assume that screw needs to remain in place.
Thanks,
Bill

Thank you, @CTG_8273 and @RoHe, for helping me figure it out!
For anyone else, here is the procedure for installing an M.2 SSD into a Dell XPS 8940 that doesn't currently have one.
1. Move the Phillips-head screw from 2230 to 2280. The screw has a hole down the center that we will put another screw in.
2. Insert the SSD into the M.2 slot and push it down until it touches the screw in 2280.
3. Insert an m2 x 3mm screw to hold down the SSD. You will need to purchase one as it doesn't come with the computer. You can get them on Amazon. Also, you will probably need a longer screw if you want to put on a washer.
Try Here You will have to know the part number.

@CTG_8273,
Are these M.2 screws universal? How do I know which one I need for my Dell motherboard?
Thanks,
Bill
@wbarnum - That screw should be "either/or". You just put in the correct position for whichever size NVME SSD you're installing...

And @wbarnum make sure you have a magnetized screwdriver. You can get a screwdriver set here.
Small Screwdrivers for $3.99 at Harbor Freight.
Now dell price is $19.99 is anyone surprised? Maybe not the exact set but the one from Harbor Freight has the one you need Dell is still overpriced.
You can also stick the screwdriver to a refrigerator magnet. That will usually make it magnetized. Then you will not loose the screw.

What if you don't have the Phillips head screw? Both the 2230 and 2280 is missing it. Where do I get or buy one?

If your PC is under warranty, you might be able to get an m2x3 screw from Dell Spare Parts, 1-800-357-3355. Have Service Tag handy when you call.
Otherwise, a local PC (repair) shop, Best Buy, local hardware store, or on line at the usual shopping sites

It is Dell motherboard standoff DP/N 715KN. this video demonstrates how to install it on mobo. the ssd is then installed on top of the philips head standoff using M2 x 2 mm screw.
The standoff is available for order from Dell. try chat w Dell live agent online to place order.
