XPS 8950, adding WD 2TB SSD
I am looking at a Western Digital BLACK SN750 NVMe Solid State Drive, 2TB. It seems to be a gen3 drive.
My desktop have 500GB SSD for C: drive and a 1TB drive for
Can I added the WD drive in an empty slot as the E drive? Will this be a simple process?

Yes, you can add it to the empty NVMe slot and all you would have to do is set it up with Windows storage management. If it were me, I would use Macrum Reflect Free to clone the C: drive and expand the partition and use the 2Tb drive as my system drive. You can then use the orginal NVMe drive for storage after it is properly formatted. I would also look for a Gen4 X4 NVMe as they are faster and the PC supports the Gen 4 X4.

It depends, what is the exact model number of your system?

My computer also makes an occasional clunking sound, sort of like a relay disengaging. I cannot tell when it occurs and it is not on a regular pattern. I do not believe it is the fan.
By any chance, do you have any idea what might be causing the sound?

When does it make this "clunking" sound? Is it happening when the PC is waking up from sleep? I honestly do not know what it could be. I would check all the cables and wires and make sure that nothing is hitting a fan blade. The more details that you can provide about the noise the better (when, how often, how loud, what program is being used, temps, video card fan?). There are many knowledgeable and helpful forum members that might have a better idea and hopefully they will see this and respond. If nobody else responds, I would start a new thread.

It seems to make the sound every time I shut down the computer. But the nosie occurs also when I am working. Not doing anything special or using the hard drive. The computer seems to be operating fine. That's why I am getthing the additional SSD. This will alleviate me having to use the hard drive.
I also use TechPowerUp to check the temp and rotation of the fans. Not sure how accurate are the results. Everything seems okay there. Figure I just use the computer until something breaks.
