Dell Laptop Recommendation

Hi,

I'm looking for a recommendation on Dell laptops that can handle everything. I've entered my graduation course in Interior design and looking for a laptop that can help me with my daily tasks and handle heavy software like Sketchup, FreeCad, etc. These tools are what my teachers tell me to use; they can change in the future, but they are the ones they recommend now. Also, what kind of configuration should I look at, and what is the budget for a laptop?

This question would probably have been better asked in the laptop forums than the desktop forum. But not a problem. If you want power for CAD then something like the XPS 17 series. They are very powerful but that power does not come cheap. They range from $2500 CAD to around $4200 CAD. Keep in mind that the system requirements for both Sketchup and FreeCad are not very excessive so the higher end systems of the XPS series may be a bit of overkill for the present but as you stated that can change down the road. Do some research and also ask your instructors what they recommend as I am sure they have heard the question many times in their teaching careers.
