Dell XPS 15 9520 Sleep Problem crash to HTTP Boot then Hard Drive Not Installed HELP

Hi All,

I recently purchased a Dell XPS this past Fall 2022 as I have previously had many Dell products that I was very happy with. Unfortunately this one has given me some issues, so I'll just get right to it and see if anyone knows any information about it or can help. Thanks.

When the computer goes to sleep, with no specified duration of sleep, or times it has been asleep (as in I have come back to the computer to wake it up, used it, then allowed it to go back to sleep again) at random, approximately 1-2 times weekly the screen will come on with the Dell Logo, it then appears to be loading up, and then this screen below appears.

If I select my wireless network, enter my password and allow the computer to progress, it results with this screen below

The computer then produces a series of beeps and is basically inoperable until I manually hold down the power button to turn the entire computer off, and then restart it after a minute it or so.

Troubleshooting I've done thus far:

  1. I learned that HTTP(s) Boot is a way to reload the OS on the computer, but I have no idea why the computer randomly turns on to this screen while it is in sleep mode

  2. I have made sure that all Microsoft updates, Dell Driver updates, BIOS updates, etc. have been completed

  3. I have chatted with tech support through SupportAssist for hours and all they have me do is

a) perform hard reset

b) run hardware diagnostic tests through the BIOS which comes back normal

c) update drivers and BIOS over and over

I wanted to know if anyone has any experience with this and can shed any light on what's going on or what I can do to fix it, Thanks so much.

In general that could be a problem with the SSD or even a problem with the MB. There have been a few posts on Reddit with similar problems and in more than one occasion the MB was replaced. You could try reseating the SSD but my guess is that if the drive is starting to exhibit problems it will only become more common and frequent.

I had a similar issue. I was able to boot again on my hard-drive by adding a boot option using grub.efi (being on Linux).

Hi @PistolPete93 I'm having the exact same problem. It's very irritating and has caused me to lose work when I am forced to shut down. Did you ever find a solution?
