XPS 15 9570 won't use Nvidia 1050Ti at all

Hello Everyone,

I recently purchased a 9570, so far it's been the best laptop iv'e ever owned but for some reason i couldn't enable the 1050Ti to work, it's always stuck at 0%.

Iv'e tried to enable it via Intel and Nvidia softwares, BIOS updates, device manager updates and nothing worked. The laptop is only using the built it UHD 630.

Your help will be very appriciated,
Thanks.

Have you checked it with an external monitor attached?

I did, a brand new 27” 4K monitor from Dell, works flawlessly but still no graphics card

OK, when you are watching the Task Manager for the GPU, you do not see activity on the 1050Ti when you plug in an external monitor?

You have checked the Device Manager to make sure the Nvidia chip is showing in the Video adapters section?

Maybe I will get one of mine out and try with an external monitor to verify.

I think nVIDIA should kick in when we put enough load on machine,

Unlike Gaming Laptops these ultrabooks are mostly driven by onboard graphics, I think its a measurement to save battery,

Try a heavy workload, may be editing a video or a benchmarks (GPU based)

This is what mine shows with external monitor on HDMI.  I see no indication on the 1050 Ti without the external monitor.

The GPU 0 is working fine, but the GPU 1 Nvidia is stuck at 0% at all times, even under heavy load with the monitor plugged in.

Well, I had a large all in one system that the Nvidia chip kept failing.  But when that happened, it would disappear from the Device Manager.

If your external monitor is working, I would have to think the Nvidia chip was running it but I can't say that with certainty.  Maybe the problem is your system isn't reading the chip correctly.

Open Supportassist > Troubleshooting > I want to troubleshooting my PC > Scan a specific piece of hardware > Choose NVDIA graphics > stress test

Does that make nVIDIA kick in ??
