XPS 17 9700 microphone buzzing
Starting two days ago, the microphone on my XPS 17 9700 stopped working. When I record on Voice Recorder, all I hear is a loud buzzing. I've tried updating, uninstalling, and reinstalling drivers. I was on Windows 11, and I went back to Windows 10 while trying to fix this audio issue.
Has anyone had any similar problems, and does anyone have any suggested fixes?

Try this and check if this works @artemis9700
1. WIRELESS DEVICES
If this is the first time your microphone ever malfunctioned, try recording something new in another setting. If the new audio sounds perfectly fine, chances are you just experienced wireless interference.
Certain devices can transmit signals that can cause microphone buzz and feedback. That can include mobile phones or even landlines, speakers, radio receivers, circuit breakers, or a nearby smart home device or digital TV.
As much as possible, turn off wireless devices or disable the WIFI connection before you start recording. This can also prevent another annoying accident: a cell phone suddenly ringing right in the middle of an otherwise perfect take.
If you’re shooting on a set or for an event where you absolutely need to use radio transmitters, try to keep them at least 10 feet away from any receivers and make sure that the transmitters are never set to the same frequency.
2. NOISY SETTINGS
“Silence on the set!”
Your microphone could be picking up background noise. This is a particular issue with condenser microphones, which tend to be more sensitive and can pick up even the most subtle room sounds.
Sometimes, these sounds are too soft for the human ear. One way to pick up sound pollution is to put on a headset, increase your microphone gain, and then circle around the room. You’ll be able to identify any sounds that can interfere with your recording.
If it’s not possible to completely mute that sound, position your mic and equipment as far away as possible. Do another recording and listen to the output to find out if you’ve eliminated the noise.
If you regularly record in situations with a lot of background sound, use dynamic or directional microphones instead of condenser microphones. These will give you more control over which kinds of sounds they should record...
@artemis9700 Reply me if it worked

MaxxAudioPro by Waves is a program that's running all the time on new XPS laptops. When ever you plug in something to the headphone jack it pops up asking you what you just plugged in: Headphones, Microphone, etc.
Anyway, if you open the app itself, the left most choice looks like a speaker. Once selected you'll see and EQ and a way to toggle it on and off. It's that EQ that's causing the echo filter to be put on all your audio signals running through the Intel Sound Bridge Controller. Turn the EQ off, and the echo will disappear.

Did you find a solution to the microphone issue? I have the same problem since upgrading to Windows 11 (XPS 17 9700). No issues with the mic on Windows 10. The mic doesn't pick up any sounds at all and only produces a loud buzz.

I've had it multiple times. I've already had my screen replaced (the only way to replace the microphone). That included reflashing all the bios to get the new camera work. But after that, it was 2 days and again the microphone array was only a buzzer. Installing drivers did nothing but I reinstalled all flashable stuff /Bios and it worked for a few days. (and is once again a buzzer). I don't know how long it works since I mostly use a headset but it does not work with a microphone for very long. I am regretting getting a dell rather a mac. Nice specs and good when it works, but it fails so often it is not worth the cost savings. I'm wondering if it's an MB/Flash/Bios ram. As it is reflashing worked once and is pretty useless if that is a "solution" but I've not had time to have dell come to replace it again. Not positive it is my hardware but reflashing is a bad bandaid for any hardware problem.

I had the same issue; tried reinstalling drives without success; but, power the laptop off, powered up into the BIOS, disabled the microphone, exited, booted into Windows 11, powered down, powered up into the BIOS, reenabled the microphone, exited, and booted into Windows 11. This seemed to work. (I did happen to run the diagnostics on the webcam and usb devices. I dont think this resulted in any benefit; but wanted to mention it just in case, as I will not be able to verify the process until the mic fails again.)
