Got my XPS 9320 laptop for only 2 days now! My touchpad is going crazy! It's living it's own life. Starts clicking randomly or there's a delayed response. Not happy about this.
I've restarted, reset the BIOS, shutdown the device completely. Nothing seems to help!
Any suggestions would be welcome.
This forum thread has much more information. Similar problems required hardware replacement or the most recent BIOS update. If the information in that link does not help I would suggest calling Dell tech support or click on Get help now at the bottom of the page.
Since it is a new system, the battery swelling situation is probably not involved.
You might check the Device Manager and verify what drivers it is using so if you need to reinstall you will know which ones. It is basically, a USB device so those might be involved.
Make sure your fingers are not touching each other when using it.
But otherwise, as @JOcean recommends.
Thank you for the response.
The laptop is update regarding latest drivers, BIOS and other firmware. Looks like I have to consult support already
I would suggest you to update the touchpad drivers on the system for issue resolution. Please enter your service tag # on the link below and click on ‘Get drivers and downloads’ then download the touchpad driver from ‘Mouse, Keyboard & Input Devices’ section onto the system and install it.
Also, I would advise you to download and install the ‘TouchFreeze’ software from the link below and check for issue resolution.
Please let me know if this helps.
Issue still isn't solved. Worst part is that these touchpads aren't available. Have to wait till the 15th of Feb till the next shipment arrives. In the meantime the touchpad is not responding anymore to clicks. This makes drag and drop functionality impossible.
I've escalated this matter. Looks like I'm going to return the device before the 14 days expire since I got the device delivered. It's a real shame bc I liked this configuration very much.
