XPS13 9300 Right USB C port not working after BIOS update

Hi all,

Anybody has the same issue? My XPS13 9300 2020 model suddenly has an issue connecting a WD19TB docking station on it's right USB port (where it normally is connected to). I have two docks, one at home and one at work, but they both have the issue that the connected screens start flickering, USB ports and LAN are not working on the dock. After a while a plugging in and out, it starts working again. But flaky and prone to fail. The left port is still working fine. This happened after an update of all the internal stuff like BIOS and other chip.

Thanks for the support, regards,

Antoine

Hi JanKK, For me it worked by updating both my WD19TB docks, they were both on 40.0 and the thunderbolt software is on 43.0. I guess the update of bios and chipsets made the software to far apart from each other. The "funny" thing is that I couldn't update the WD19TB's with the Dell laptop on either USB port. Had to use another laptop (not Dell) to fix that. Hopefully it helps you Regards, Antoine

Yes, I am having the same issue after doing the Bios update although it is my USB C port on the left and although under warranty the only support I am getting is via Whats app and they are just sending me screenshots of their website I don't seem to be able to get hold of a real technician
It seems from all the posts on here that this is a common issue for Dell Why they have not found a simple fix yet is beyond me I have lost a whole day on whats app doing the various things they have asked me to do which is a complex process ending with reinstalling windows which I don't want to do as it's going to take me another lost day downloading and sorting my apps etc. but at the moment it is the only option left I will be really mad if it still doesn't fix the problem.
Also, a bit suspicious as I am 24 days to the end of the warranty, has this happened to anyone else just as the warranty is ending?

On 9500 i've used this:

https://dl.dell.com/FOLDER07617928M/1/Intel_TBT3_FW_UPDATE_NVM_65_D2KWC_A04_4.65.117.028.exe

And it will has fixed the same issues (present on all Dell as far I can read). So choose the correct one for your model

It will update the thunderbolt firmware and the problem will be fixed. Don't ask me why this update doesn't show up in Dell Utilities.. The firmware is newer than I have in *all updated* 9500
