BIOS Update Inspiron 3721 Linux
Hello folks!
I want to update my bios because the fan is very painful. The new BIOS-SW should come up with a solution for that problem.
Now my problem is, there is no easy way to update the BIOS within a Linux-System. I don't know if DELL thinks there is only one OS, named Windows. Windows for me is like air-conditioning, stops working if opening a window... Sorry for that, DELL knows about Ubuntu, wuuuhhhaaa!
Is it so hard to create a linux-executable or script with the ability to update every BIOS on a DELL system? Unfortunately, i can't do this.
I tried the way of extracting the hdr-file from the windows-executable i have downloaded from the DELL site. But i get a winflash error when i tried to execute the windows-executable on Windows 7 as admin (same as normal user).
So, this is a request for a tool to update the BIOS on a DELL system from within Linux in the YEAR 2013, not 1991!
BTW: The used hardware isn't really linux-friendly. To buy a DELL system was a mistake on my own part, i know that.

Hallo Community.
Ein neuer Versuch, diesmal auf Deutsch.
Gerne würde ich ein BIOS-Update auf dem genannten DELL durchführen. Starte ich die heruntergeladene Datei "3721A12.exe" unter einer "Mini Windows XP" Umgebung (Hirens Boot CD), so meldet das InsydeFlash-Programm das der AC-Adapter bzw. die Batterie nicht vorhanden sein. Die Option "/forceit", welche man häufig genannt bekommt, ändert daran nichts. Auch das entpacken der Datei und die Änderung der enthaltenen "plattform.ini"-Datei (AC-Adapter-Check: FLAG=0, Battery-Check: FLAG=0) haben keine Auswirkung und das Update kann nicht durchgeführt werden.
Das ist echt zum Verzweifeln. Hat irgendwer das Update unter Linux erfolgreich durchführen können?
