Aurora R9, memory upgrade, confused
Just unboxed this beast from Best Buy and in getting everything running, came to this forum to read about problems.
I attached CPU-Z because I read that you can not add regular HyperX memory to the R9 because of the higher voltage requirements of the Alienware brand HyperX memory. CPU-Z shows it running at 1.2v, which is the norm.
I talked to a Dell rep and they quoted me $99.00 for 1 stick of 8GB RAM and it was an off brand, not even Kingston.
I search Dell myself and find 2 X 8GB @ $139.00 for the R9, much better price however, it is almost twice the cost of the same Kingston memory.
I would appreciate any feedback on the subject, thank you for all of your time.

One final comment - CPUz shows your RAM is currently running at 2400. You can fix that f2 on startup, performance options, and XMP2 (you can also try XMP1 first).

The main thing to keep in mind is that the timings on the retail HyperX are different from the OEM HyperX, even the canned extreme profiles. The voltages on the XMP profiles are different with the higher speed RAMs too like 2933. You have the base 2666 RAM. In any event, the point is that you shouldn't mix and match the retail and OEM HyperX as they will be mismatched. That does not mean the retail HyperX RAM does not work. Just be prepared to toss, store, sell your OEM RAM if you upgrade.

s i added corsair 16 gb modules at 3200 (best buy) and mach9ine works, registers 32 gig but cpuz shws it slow!

OK I have also a R9 and was wondering if you can install 64 GB of Corsair Vengeance 3600 MHZ DD4 memory modules ( 2X32GB) ?
Am I just asking for trouble ??
Also does the R9 support DDR5 memory modules ?

That will be asking for trouble, and DDR5 is not supported.
