I made a dumb mistake and now my VRTX SPERC8 can't see the enclosure or disks

Ok so I admit that this is all my fault.  Hahaha, for what it's worth.

I am working hard to squeeze some life and value out of a legacy VRTX system.  Upfront note:  The system is off warranty/support since 2017; I am just trying to get a year out of it as a DR resource only.

This chassis died last year before I took this job, due to repeat issues with failed CMC cards.  It was taken out of service and we now have a new VxRail hyperconverged infrastructure as our primary.

Recently I did a lot of work (new CMC card, ordered a redundant CMC that hasn't been received yet, all new firmware on chassis, IDRAC's etc.) and I installed 12 new 3.5" disks in the chassis.  It was running well and I had a nice big virtual disk running RAID6.

I decided it would be a good idea to look into adding another Shared PERC8 card, similar to how I am adding the redundant CMC, so I went ahead and bought the card.

I made a serious mistake by not doing my homework.  I didn't understand that I would need the full kit - including the upper SAS Expander board and another set of SAS cables.  I just powered down the chassis and I installed the second SPERC8 in the "slot 10" upper slot.

Obviously, this did not go as planned.  When I powered up, there were critical errors all over the place and there were no disks detected anywhere.  I assumed that I could just power it back down, remove the second SPERC8 and I could get back to status-quo-ante.  Wrong.

Now, the system is telling me that the SAS cables aren't connected and it can't see any physical disks and it can't even see the Enclosure.

I'm hoping this doesn't mean I damaged the original hardware, and that I just need to know the correct procedure to revert to the original configuration.  I was *so close* to going into "DR production" with this system!

I should mention, ESXi 6.x running on three M520 blades and they all were happy seeing the shared storage through the shared PERC8.
