PowerVault 114x w/Dell 12Gbps SAS HBA

Hi all, I have a Windows 2016 server with a Dell 12Gbps SAS HBA correctly installed, as in the OS recognizes it and it is happily listed in device manager.

I have a Dell PowerVault 114x and am trying to get this to work with the HBA, but no matter what device drivers I use, firmware updates I perform, I simply can't get it to be recognized in device manager. It was originally hooked up to a 2012 R2 server with no issues.

Any help much appreciated, many thanks.

Hello glandy987,

A couple other things to check:

Cable orientation, try turning it over:

There should be a notch on the HBA in which you can match up a notch on the cable side too.

Once connected correctly, the tape drive(s) will show up in device manager.

12GB HBA has a LED next to the port. It should light up and the cable should lock into place.

Rescan Device manager several times over several minutes.

Are you using LTO5 tapes?

Hello glandy987,

Do you have another cable to try?

I'll have to do some more research on this. Can you Private Message me:

PowerVault 114x Service tag?

Host Server model?
