OMSA Multiple Physical Disks Error

Good day Dell Community,

I took over a Dell OMSA Server that has 3x RAID 5 Storage Arrays connected to it.

Usually we receive a notification that a drive has failed and we need to swap it out, last week when I checked it and I noticed the same Physicall Disk is showing multiple times, 30% of it is Foreign,30% is rebuilding and the rest is Online in the State. When counting the same disk is showing as 20 separate disks but they all have the same name and revision number.

Its strange because I know there are only physically 12 3TB disks in that Enclosure.

Any help or advise will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Marco,

Sorry for the late reply. Ironically the Storage arrays is what is hosting our backups.

I restarted the server and it then only started rebuilding disk 0:2:11 and it stopped showing duplicate disks.

We also did replace disk 0:2:3 and it still says "Ready" state.

Although it seems fine now.

Thank you.

Hello,

that's very strange.

I suggest you to perform a full backup at first, then probably if all issue is related to drive 0:2:3 then the issue can come from this disk, and you should replace with another one.

Check also if there aren't any other hard drive error on other hard disks

Thanks
