R740XD2 and ESL5 Drive firmware

We got an advisory for an urgent firmware upgrade for ST14000NM013G and ST16000NM010G drives to ESL5. Of which, we have 144 in R740XD2 chassis, all running ESL3 firmware.

As yet, this doesn't show up in Openmanage. When I went looking for the firmware update on the Dell site, it lists dozens of servers as being affected, but the R740XD2 is conspicuously missing.

Does anyone know if the R740XD2 really doesn't need this drive firmware applied, or has it just been left off the list (hence Openmanage doesn't offer to upgrade the drives)?

Thanks for checking. As it was omission, I will manually update the firmware then.

Looking at one of the servers, under firmware/drivers:  I see the baseline version doesn't exist for the ST14000NM013G drives in our R740XD2.

The message in the "BASELINE VERSION" column says "Update file not in catalog; Check dell.com/support"

Hi @Rob Burrowes,

The baseline version is showing update file not in catalog is because the file update is not the download list for R740XD2.

I checked that this link for ST14000NM013G https://dell.to/3DuDYww does not have R740XD2 in it, there might be because the firmware ESL3 is not affected on R740XD2, but I would like to check that out for you.

Please PM me the R740XD2's service tag, I'll create up a case and have it send to engineering to check if the reason I gave was correct. But this may take up some time but not as fast response as, if you would call support to check it by yourself.

Yes, it's possible. Let's do that, update manually in iDRAC. Monitor the situation. Do reach out to me if needed.
