Dell Equalogic ps6110 setup ETH0 fail
We bought used PS6110 and wiped the memory.
Im connected via CLI and can login with group admin
running setup Im unable to connect ETH0 to any port anywhere.
Group Manager Setup Utility
It appears that setup was run previously, but it did not
complete. Restarting setup.
Enter the network configuration for the array.

Initializing interface eth0. This may take a minute...........

This must be my inexperience. I'm not sure which slot/card ETH0 is utilizing (upper CM0 or lower CM1) orange type 14
with SPF+, mgnt (rj45), rj45 (I assume this refers to eth0).
It's a single ethernet wire to any of those.
Am I missing something?
The point of this storage system is attaching to dell openstack servers. This will eventually become our swift and cinder block stores.

Hi,
Type 14 controller is a vertical port failure controller, have you connected both controller ETH0 (either the RJ45 or the SPF+) to the switch? Also, when you connect the ports, how are the ACT LED, are they lid/blinking? Have you tried other ports on the switch? Have you tried other network cable?

Hi,
You probably might need to check the connections to the switch, correct cables, and also it needs 10GbE.

Hello,
I tried to find a good document for you.
See if this helps:
Dell PS Series Configuration Guide
Vertical port failover behavior in PS4110/PS6110 controllers

good questions all.
I do not have link lights.
My switches are 1 ubiquity dream machine, 2 cisco switch, and 2 switch hubs ( trendnet) 10/100.
The dream machine has a dedicated 10G port which is not in use yet.

Hello,
A 6110 is 10GbE only. It does not negotiate down to 1GbE. The RJ45 is for management but you cannot set up an EQL array without the iSCSI port being enabled

Joey and DWilliams,
Forgive me for not knowing this, the the type 14 controller has multiple ports including the SFP+ port with a 10 GB rj45 in place. That said, the SFP+ port is the port the setup is trying to enable as ETH0? and that needs a corresponding switch that handles 10GB?
I appreciate your responses and I'm not opposed to purchasing a random switch which uses 10GB. Does it need to be a Dell brand switch?
Thanks again,
bd

Dell-Charles R,
I wish I could mark everyone's post an accepted answer. Your post provided the card diagrams needed.
Joey and DWilliams provided the idea of failover switch configs with 1GB and 10GB switches.
Thank you everyone. All posts were the accepted answer....
The other doc I found was:
https://i.dell.com/sites/content/shared-content/data-sheets/en/documents/ethernet-sans-using-dell-equallogic-storage-arrays.pdf
Our switch design will look similar to this document. Our racks have 4U's available to accept 2x6248P and 2x8924F switches. I'll reply back after they get installed. Please keep this thread open for no more than 14 days. With some luck and a very large electric bill I should have the whole system ready for our telco room.
thanks again,
bd

@Agrapha That is correct. You need a 10GbE switch and the SFP+ and RJ45 are both ETH0 but fixed at 10GbE. Prices on 10GbE switches are coming down. But do not use 10GbE ports on a GbE switch they are not designed to handle 10GbE iscsi traffic.
Good luck
Don
