swap drives

Hi - I have two identical PS6210E EqualLogic units (drives/firmware same). They are both degraded, and I would like to decommission one of them in order to use the known working drives in the second unit (replacing its failed drives).

Is there a proper drive uninstall procedure that I must use in order for them to work in the second unit?

Thanks, in advance!

Hello,

The donor array should be reset if possible.  That will clear the RAIDset labels.  If not when you put then in the other array it won't be available for use.  Depending the FW, in the GUI you can highlight that foreign drive and clear it.

Optionally, at the CLI you can clear it with   GrpName>member select MEMBERNAME disk select DISKNUMBER clear-label

The firmware is less critical than not mixing RPM speeds or SSD's with mechanical drives.

I am assuming these are no longer under warranty.

 Regards,

Don
