Is it possible to add another DD to the IDPA Avamar?
Hello everyone!
My client has an IDPA 4400 from which an Avamar and DDVE were deployed, this was done to replace the old NetWorker with this new IDPA environment.
From this migration we had a physical Data Domain 2500 left over, which raised the question of whether it is possible to add it to the current environment, thus having 02 Data Domain integrated with Avamar, the DDVE deployed from IDPA and the physical DD2500.
The physical DD2500 has DDOS 6.0.2.20, and additionally we would need to use the Cloud Tier functionality to migrate backups to Azure.
I have made some inquiries to support, but still it is not clear to me if it is totally possible and mainly if this configuration would be supported in case of requiring assistance.

Additional DDs CAN be integrated to work with IDPA with the following important caveats:

Hello Rod!
Thank you very much for your complete answer, it makes a lot of sense to me.
I made a case to Dell support and they indeed told me that it is not a supported configuration, since IDPA is a "closed environment" so to speak.
In the same way, it is interesting to know that it could be replicated from the DDVE to the Physical DD.
