Starting with the seventh generation Intel Core platform (and AMD Ryzen/R9, R12 APU) only Windows 10 is supported. It's Microsoft -- not Dell -- that is locking out older Windows on newer CPUs.

Dell is following Microsoft, as all OEMs must.

if you want to run anything older than Windows 10, you must go no newer than the Skylake (6th generation) platform.

It stinks then to force people to a worse operating system after Windows ME and Windows Vista.
