Dell WD15, WD19S, and TB16 with Realtek USB GBE Ethernet Controller

A number of users in my organization that utilize Dell docking stations with their Dell Latitude laptops have reported web pages loading very slowly or complained of other network tasks taking longer than expected. Attempting to run a ping command on the user's workstation will display good replies with sporadic Request Time Outs and General Failure notifications. Users that experience these issues use Dell docking stations that utilize a Realtek USB GBE Ethernet Controller.

This issue occurs with the following Realtek USB GBE Ethernet Controller drivers:

  • 10.48.914.2021 (latest available driver)
  • 10.47.0818.2021

This issue does not appear to occur with the following Realtek USB GBE Ethernet Controller drivers:

  • 10.39.518.2020

This issue also does not occur when the user utilizes the Ethernet port on their Dell Latitude laptop.

I am very confused by what could be causing this issue besides blaming the Realtek drivers. What makes me more confused, however, is that I have not seen any issues like this reported elsewhere online. I'm curious to know if others have had difficulties with this Realtek Ethernet Controller or if someone could offer troubleshooting steps to determine the problem.

Try the new driver released on 23 May 2022 - 10.52.0418.2022. This seems to have fixed the packet loss I was getting on my WD19TB.

We tried reaching you on a private message asking for the Service Tag number to ascertain the warranty but did not receive a response. Please feel free to reply to the private message whenever you are available.

Westosha_Net_Eng,

Update Dock drivers and system BIOS here and then check.

Also,  update network drivers from the link here and check if that helps.

We are having the same issue with drivers other than 10.39.518.2020 in our organisation.

However, this only happens in our corporate office not when the users are working from home on the same docks.

This is made worse by Microsoft updates auto pushing out the newer driver constantly.

We've updated all other device BIOS/firmware etc and have seen no improvement. This can also be reproduced on other vendor laptops when using the Dell docks.

We just saw the same issue in our organization with the docks.

We just found out that we are randomly losing ARP packets from our router on our clients. We still see them on the switch port of the client but not directly on the client anymore.

Have you had the same experience?

Thanks for indicating that a new driver was released. I've tried this latest driver on a Windows 11 Dell Latitude laptop with a Dell WD15 docking station and the Realtek USB Ethernet NIC appears to be functioning correctly. I'll have to try the WD15 docking station with a Windows 10 device but I expect it to function correctly now too.

Thanks a lot, I had the issue with almost 0 ethernet internet speed when ethernet cable is connected to docking station Dell WD 19TBS , spent a week browsing Dell community, tried all possible solutions recommended by the Dell Community including updating drivers and firmware for network adapter and docking station and replacement of docking station and the only solution that worked was installation of the outdated driver 10.39.518.2020. Dell support is useless, I am so frustrated, can't believe that they can't fix this issue for years....
