Dell iDRAC9 v7

Dear Guys,

I have multiple servers at my data center like R740 and R350, while checking for updates, some servers shows to update the iDRAC from v6.xx to v7.xx and the strange thing that some other servers NOT showing this update. So, I downloaded iDRAC v7 manually then apply it to the servers. After v7 installed, I did a re-check for updates and it shows that I have to downgrade to v6.xx and also even from the OpenManage Enterprise.

Please advise!

Same here .... yes iDRAC9 is used in 14-15Gen. Servers but maybe the Dell Catalog isnt updated for all versions yet.

Even though 14G and 15G systems use iDRAC9, 

 

iDRAC 9 has reached the End of Feature Development on 14G PowerEdge servers as of June 30, 2023.  The iDRAC9 will reach End of Software Maintenance on February 1, 2027. This is not related to the HW support.

 

Which is why we don't see the latest 7.xx firmware which are released for 15G part of the 14G, like 7.00.30.00(released for 15G, but not for 14G)

 

At this stage, the last scheduled release of iDRAC9 for 14G servers is 7.00.00.00

 

Even though this is released in June, it is still not updated in catalog for 14G servers, but for 15G servers the latest versions(7.00.30.00) are updated in catalog which is why you are seeing some servers have 7.xx as the iDRAC version available and some servers have 6.xx as the latest available.

 

 

All 14G servers still show 6.10.80.00 as the latest version as per catalog

All 15G servers show 7.00.30.00 as latest version as per catalog.

 

Yes, manual upgrade to 7.00.00.00 on 14G servers is supported and the catalog will say to downgrade as this is still not added into catalog.

 

Dell will continue to provide critical security updates in accordance with our Security Update guidelines, but no new features will be added for 14G servers.
