PowerFlex integration with vROPs 8.1

Hello,

We are running PowerFlex 3.5.1 and we have been trying to integrate it with vROPs 8.1.

We have installed the adapter but are having a rough time configurating the adapter instances.

We've tried setting up the MDM and Gateway adapters but for some reason 'validate connection' fails without too much information.

We've followed the guide at: https://vineethac.blogspot.com/2020/10/dell-emc-powerflex-mp-for-vrops-8x.html?m=1

We have the following configured:

Name: powerflex-manager

Managenent IP or hostname: [ip of the primary MDM taken from the GUI]

Port: 443

Instance Type: PowerFlex Manager

System Name: powerflex-manager

Credentials:

Kind: PowerFlex Manager Adapter Credentials

Name: powerflex-manager

Username: [username used to connect to the MDM]

Passowrd: [password used to connect to the MDM]

PowerFlex Manager Domain Name: VXFMLOCAL.

The error I am getting: Unable to connect to the specified target. Please validate the instance type, hostname/IP, port and credentials.

Something is obviously not configured correctly.

What am I missing?

Thank!

Hi ,

Following are the adapter instances that can be configured:
•PowerFlexGateway
•PowerFlex Manager
•PowerFlex Node
•PowerFlex Networking

As mentioned:
a.PowerFlexGateway:Use the management IP address of PowerFlexGateway.
b.PowerFlex Manager:Use the management IP address of PowerFlex Manager.
c.PowerFlex Node:Use the management IP address range of iDRACs. Configure the following AdvancedSettings:•PowerFlex Management Controller vCenter Server
d.PowerFlex Networking:Use the management IP address range of Cisco network switches.

Going by the guide below it looks like PowerFlex Manager is a minimum required.

Hi ,

You said you are using the PowerFlex Manager adapter instance type:

"Name: powerflex-manager

Managenent IP or hostname: [ip of the primary MDM taken from the GUI]"

You should be using the  management IP address of the PowerFlex Manager and not the  ip of the  master MDM.

Try that and see how it goes.

Hey,

Thanks for the prompt answer.

Dies the vROPs adapter only work for PowerFlex appliances? We are running the SDS solution and I'm unaware of a component called PowerFlex Manager.

Thanks.
