Dell tl2000 lto8 tape end of calcylated life

Hello. After nearly 38 write cyckles the tapedrive says the tape is nearing its calculated life. I thought it should be upp to 260 write cycles? We are writing the tapes nearly full every time so maybe this is right? We have serveral tapes now thats indicating nearly end of its calculated time . 

Anybody knows if this is correct and I need to just swap out the tapes?

yes if i see in this documentation it is about 260 full tape backups.

Hello.

Yes The library is F.11 /3.20e and lto drive is J4D1.

It seems like the latest firmware

Yes they are the latest versions.

Yes 38 cycles is pretty much low. It could be an issue with the tape or maybe the tape model.

Did you tried to change with aother tapes?

I have three tapes that now says soon end of life.. Im planning to change all the tapes for new one. But It will take some time to reach 38 again.  What is loadcycle? It says 115 times..

The library and the driveunit is all green in mangement console..

Im running HP tapes. Maybe switch Vendor? Its hard to find Dell tapes in Sweden...

Hi, the “end of calculated life” warning for LTO tapes is an indication that the tape is approaching the end of its optimal performance period. However, this doesn’t mean the tape can’t be used anymore. For important data, it’s advisable to replace the tapes when this warning appears. Keeping your firmware updated is also recommended. If problems persist, consider trying tapes from a different manufacturer. Additionally, it’s worth noting that LTO media is typically rated for 20,000 passes. However I'm not sure it might be an issue with the specific tapes, or it could be related to the tape drive itself.
