5480 HDMI output audio lag

Anyone experienced a problem with the current generation of Precision laptops that have Realtek and Intel sound drivers experiencing a 2-3 second audio delay only when using an USB-C -> HDMI -> HDMI device configuration? I have tried 3 different Realtek sound drivers from the service tag page, as well as two different USB-C to HDMI dongles with no luck.
