Dell Inspiron

I bought a Dell Inspiron 5000 EVO last year for my son. Over time the centre of the laptop seemed to bend, almost identical to the photos on this forum of other bent laptops. 

I took it back to The Good Guys where I purchased it, and they contacted Dell who have said user error? Can someone please explain to how this is user error when it is a recurrent problem amongst your products?
