M4700 Precision memory
This laptop came with 2 x 8GB SODIMMs = 16GB. From reading other posts I learned that you can't just add 2 more 8GB sticks to the two empty slots, or the machine won't boot. So my question is: will it work to replace the two 8GB sticks with 16GB sticks: 32GB (2x16GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory? Or is there a system prohibition against more than 8GB in a slot?

The max is 8G/slot or 16 G with a dual-core CPU. Only if the system has a quad core CPU can all four memory slots be filled, making the total 32 G.
