JRE basic question

Hello,

I currently have installed version 1.8.0_261 and 1.8.0_281; my remote access works fine. I recently received an email from IT saying I need to remove my EOL version of JRE and install the latest version. I'm nervous they will do this remotely despite someone on IT support chat saying that would not happen.

What is the most recent version of JRE SRS will work on?
