4 SATA ports on my Optiplex 760 or Two ?

I have an optiplex 760 and it seems to have four SATA ports on the motherboard.  One is used by the optical drive.  one by the hard drive.  I try to use another for a second hard drive and it doesn't work.

I downloaded the manual and it says it only has two SATA ports and their schematic does not show the two on my board that are at the side of the ram and by the heatsink.  it only shows the two that are inline with the ram .

So am I wasting my time and they're just dummies?  Or they should be good?  Or they need enabling somehow?

You'll need to enter the BIOS and enable the SATA port that your second hard drive is plugged into. Sometimes the SATA port is automatically enabled when the BIOS detects a new device, but other times you will need to manually enable it. See pages 149 & 150 here in the service manual.
