DW316 DVD RW Drive - reading files on CD

I just purchased the Dell DW316 DVD RW drive and I'm connecting it to my Dell XPS 13 laptop running Windows 11.

As soon as I insert a CD it looks like my only option is to burn the CD.  Well I want to open the files on my CD and in the future probably install some software. Obviously if I burn or format the CD, I lose everything on the CD.

I then inserted a blank CD and formatted the CD which appears to have worked.

A CyberLink Media Suite 12 came with the drive.  Do I need to load and install the programs off the CyberLink CD so I can read CD?  How would I do that if the drive always wants to burn the CD ?

TallBadJim,

We can try changing the AutoPlay Settings from Control panel. Please check these steps:

You can open and configure the Control Panel options as follows:

  • First, click the magnifying glass taskbar button by the Start menu.

  • Enter Control Panel in the search tool.

  • Click Control Panel to bring up its window.

  • Select the Large Icons option on the Category menu.

  • Then click AutoPlay to view those Control Panel settings.

  • Now check if you have an option to select Open Folder to view files for CDs/DVDs.
