Inspiron N5010 Hard drive replacement
I bought Dell Inspiron N5010 couple of years ago and I am getting bad file segments error. Chkdsk tries to fix it by moving/deleting index files. Although I am getting repetative freeze up on the computer with hard drive busy signal on. It looks like it's time to replace the hard drive. Can you guys suggest which hard drive to buy in terms of connectors/size etc so there is no mis match when I try to install it. Also advise on which brand to buy.

Sir,
I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 Laptop whose internal hard drive has malfunctioned and I want to replace it. The old Hard drive was WD3200BPVT 75 Zesto 320Gb SATA. Firstly i would like to know whether the hard disk is replacable to 1tb. If yes then is Samsung Spinpoint M8 1 TB Laptop Internal Hard Drive (ST1000LM024) with 5400 rpm spin speed and 8 Mb Cache a good choice. As i've heard good reviews about it. I'm having 3Gb RAM and i3 processor 1st generation. Please do reply.

DELL-CHINMAY S is going by the text books. I installed Samsung spinpoint 1TB 5200RPM hard disk on my dell Inspiron 15 R N 5010 laptop without any issues. It works just fine.
Exact HDD Model : Samsung Spinpoint M8 1 TB Laptop Internal Hard Drive (ST1000LM024)
I got it for Rs 4700 from flipkart.

I did it few days back and it works like a charm.
HDD Used: Samsung Spinpoint M8 1 TB Laptop Internal Hard Drive (ST1000LM024)

Hi,
I have a similar question about replacing the hdd on an Inspiron N5010. Can I use a SATA 1TB 2.5" 7200rpm hdd instead of the standard SATA500GB 5400rpm hdd which was shipped?
