Unable to install windows xp on my dell latitude 3570 and getting the following error.

After deleting Windows 8, I'm attempting to install Windows XP on my laptop, but I'm having trouble getting beyond this installation error. Please, if someone can assist me in solving this problem, I would be quite appreciative of your assistance.

Mr. Filbert,
Thank you for responding. However, I have certain critical software that only runs on the Windows XP operating system. This is why I need to install the XP operating system.

Why do you want to run Windows XP? It's a dead system, so it receives no security updates so it is a big security risk. If you connect to the Internet, you are taking a risk.

You could install Windows 10, if you have sufficient RAM. You should have at least 8 GB for it to run well.

If you need to run some applications that you believe won't work under Windows 10, you should try them. I run some very old apps in Windows 10, many with no modifications necessary. If an application won't run natively in Windows10, you can install it in Compatibility Mode, or once it's installed, you can set the executables to run in Compatibility Mode.

Are you sure? Have you tried Compatibility Mode? I have some applications over 25 years old that run in Compatibility Mode in Windows 10.

It may not even be possible to properly install/run WinXP on your 6th-generation CPU. That may be partly the reason for your errors. Here is a note from Cornell University:

XP will not install properly or at all on Skylake (6 Gen) Intel processors, due to drivers. Presumably anything newer will present these problems, too.

Also, using SSD drives with XP requires lengthy workarounds and thus generally "not a good idea".

  • Symptom: Initial install works. But SSD dies within 6 months or so since XP doesn't have the tools to "trim" SSD cells (memory storage locations).
  • The exact procedure will vary by exact hardware used, so nothing written up below. Simply not worth doing!

@Abdul Bhat You'll need to source a used computer from the Windows XP era (2001-2006) if you want to install that version of Windows. You maybe able to use a system manufactured up to 2009, as some were still being sold with a XP OEM license at the time. Otherwise, anything newer will not be fully compatible with Windows XP, and you may not even be able to find Windows XP drivers for newer hardware as well.

I appreciate your support. I already fix the issue by changing system configuration to change ATA. now windows XP is working fine.
