Poweredge R640 suggested Upgrade path iDRAC 4.20.20.20 to 7.00.00.171

Hello,

We have a Poweredge R640 that I'm looking to upgrade to the latest iDRAC, from 4.20.20.20  to  7.00.00.171
and the BIOS from 2.8.2  to  2.21.2
Can I upgrade straight to the latest version or should I do a stepped upgrade?

Hello, thanks for choosing Dell and welcome to our community.

Could you please have a read below?

https://dell.to/3PiF3Qv

"PowerEdge servers that shipped with iDRAC9 4.40.40.00 or later versions require stepped downgrades before rolling back to version 4.40.00.00 or older firmware. The iDRAC9 must be downgraded to 4.40.10.00 and then to the older firmware."

Respectfully,

Hello,

That is a large jump. The other thing we need to consider is your BIOS version.

The DRAC and BIOS should be updated together.

Can you let us know what BIOS version you are on?
