Inspiron 15-7579 can't install Active Pen

I can't install the driver for the PN556W, it says "a supported tablet was not found on the system". is the inspiron 7579 compatible? or any solution? I tried to install the older versions of the driver but didn't work too

Thank you for your message.

This system is compatible to work with an active stylus.

Complete all Windows update, reboot the computer.

Please try to update the driver from this link http://dell.to/2ybmLe1

Is this stylus purchased with the computer or is it a separate purchase.

For my reference, please click on my Dell username & send a private message with the service tag, registered name & email address.

I am having the same problem as hsurget with my dell active pen and inspiron 15-7579. I have updated, rebooted and used the suggested link and still get the same message, "a supported tablet was not found on the system" I bought the pen separately directly from dell. paid $50+ for this pen sure would like to be able to use it.

Where can I find the service tag in the pen? I've looked everywhere and I just can't find it anywhere

Each time I attempt to go through the exe file for the pen drivers I get the following error message. I followed the steps provided to this reply and allowed my laptop to update and restart and continue to get the same.

I FOUND THE SOLUTION!!! I talked to two dell reps for 2 hours and neither of them knew how to do it. One guy hung up on me after more than an hour and ended the screen share session abruptly. The other guy said he shouldn't have done it for free and that he might be a scammer. I'm like I called the same number though. Even the supervisor don't know what happened. I was told I have to pay $90 for support. My family friend (genius!!) helped me with all the issues in 30 min. He has never even heard of this pen until today. Here's the fix.

I got a PN579X as well. It wasn't working and I got the same error message. So the pen's default mode was AES. Before pairing your pen, click on the top and bottom barrel at the same time for 2 seconds. There is a LED light in the MIDDLE of those two buttons (can barely see it). When you press them both at the same time for 2 sec, you should see one blink or two blinks. LED blink once= AES mode is active. LED blink twice= MPP active. WE WANT MPP. If it blinked once, we need to press the two buttons and hold them again for 2 sec to change it to MPP. Then, press the shortcut button for 3 seconds for the bottom LED light to flash. Now, we pair it. The pen should be working properly now.  When we convert to MPP, we don't need any software. So you can delete those. Any personalization can be done in your windows settings. Hope this helps!!
