Installing ESXi 6.7 on a Dell R430

Hi,

I bought a new Dell R430 and it came with Windows Data Center Edition by accident, so I have to change it to ESXi 6.7, which is what we use where I work.  Is there anything I should know before doing this, from other peoples experiences?  I did find a pdf on performance best practices for vSphere 6.5 (written by VMware), which I'll review and also a Dell site that explains the recommended BIOS settings (link is below).

The servers are using a RAID 5 controller.  Is there anything I should be aware of with RAID 5 and ESXi?

Thanks,

cy

Hi,

It should work fine, the performance settings should be the same. It is not recommended to use a raid 5, raid 10 or raid 6 are safer due to additional redundancy.
