How long does it take for a package to be pushed and installed?

I've using the workstation (5.7.1) and I'm not sure it's working properly. I pushed an agent to one of our Thin Clients and told it to distribute "Now" but nothing happens immediately. I come back the next day to find out it has installed the agent I pushed. 

Is this how it works?
