WDM 5.7 workgroup won't uninstall --sql Error "unable to connect to sql server aborting installation

Folks

I installed wdm 5.7 workgroup on Windows 2012 SE default which went great took a few attempts but got there.

it all looked good but It couldn't find the devices , everything was installed fine as per diagnostics file.

So I did a manual add devices and they kept going in the "unlicencsed" devices in the report manager. No matter what I did i couldn't see those devices, Wyse Thin Client 3010
So I installed the hotfix wdm 5.7.1 and that wouldn't work.

So i decided to start again and uninstalled WDM 5.7 but it has posed problems for the past 24hours and I can't get it to uninstall. I even installed IObituninstaller but still that has made no difference.

I keep getting the  "Unable to connect to sql server, aborting installation. Nothing is working

I am desperate to get back to where I was and try to figure it out

Thanks
Emer

Emer,

WDM supports Windows Server 2012Sandard and 2012R2. Please review the WDM 5.7 Installation Guide for pre-requisites.

You may have had unlicensed devices as a result of installing the Enterprise trial of WDM 5.7. The 30 day trial license only allows for 25 managed terminals. Enterprise can use AD and supports remote repositories. Without purchasing the Enterprise license any devices beyond the first 25 would appear as "unregistered" and you would not be able to manage them.

To remove the WDM Rapport SQL database go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > find Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 and uninstall. At some point in the uninstall process it should find the RAPPORT database and wait for you to confirm that you want to remove this database.

You could manually decommission the SQL database instead but if you're going to reinstall WDM it's better to just remove the database and start over. If you want to add more than 25 devices and do not plan on purchasing the Enterprise license, upon reinstallation choose the Workgroup instead of Enterprise.

Hope this helps.
