Does ThinOS 9.3 support 800x600 resolution?

I have customers that use 12" monitors in their industrial environment.  These 12" monitors natively run 800x600 resolution.  When connected to a 3040 thin client running 9.3 2205, they will display a blank/black image.  The monitor acts as if it is getting and displaying a good image (power led is solid green and not blinking).

I also recreated this same issue on 9.1.1136 and got similar results.

Is it possible ThinOS does not support 800x600 resolution?

Below is exactly what I tested:

  • I was able to test on ThinOS 9.1.1131 and the image was blank/black again when connected to the 12” monitor (800x600).
  • Next I plugged in our 15” monitor (1024x768) and it worked, but ThinOS was outputting 1024x768 because that is what the 15” monitor wants to run at.
  • I then dug around in the Admin Policy Tool and set the Resolution setting from “DDC” to “1280x1024” to force another resolution.  When I did this the 15” monitor began displaying a 1280x1024 resolution.  I then went back to the Admin Policy Tool and changed the Resolution setting from “1280x1024” to “800x600” and ThinOS did nothing.  The resolution did not change and it stayed at “1280x1024” (as if 800x600 is not supported)
  • Finally I went back into Admin Policy Tool and set the Resolution from “800x600” to “1024x768” and ThinOS changed the resolution.
  • The testing above indicates to me that ThinOS 9.x does not support 800x600 resolution.
  • I then went and downgraded the 3040 all the way to 8.6_716 and 800x600 started working fine on the 12" monitor.
