Firmware and Addon Updates for D90D7

Hi,

How long do you continue to release firmware and add-on updates for devices?

Why are the add-ons listed per device instead of for the OS?

Why are add-ons listed for my device not necessarily the most recent add-on available? For example WDM 5.5 contains new releases of the Wyse based add-ons.

If I want Citrix Receiver 4.3 for my device how long can I expect to wait to have it available for my device? Or are we expected to just create are own packages after you cease doing updates.

Can we expect improvements to updates and the general web experience at finding things (downloads, forums, support, documents everywhere different, not sure where to look sometimes) going to improve with you coming under Dell ownership?

Thanks,

Anthony

Anthony,

Let me address each question as best as I can.

Q: How long do you continue to release firmware and add-on updates for devices?

A: This is tied to the product lifecycle. This information can be found at the following URL: http://www.wyse.com/support/end-of-life-policy

Q: Why are the add-ons listed per device instead of for the OS?

A: Because the firmware is "Device Dependent", the firmware and all the add-ons are stored in the repository based on the device model.

Q: Why are add-ons listed for my device not necessarily the most recent add-on available? For example WDM 5.5 contains new releases of the Wyse based add-ons.

A: The only reason I come up with is an oversight of the posting group.

Q: If I want Citrix Receiver 4.3 for my device how long can I expect to wait to have it available for my device? Or are we expected to just create are own packages after you cease doing updates.

A: There is no specific timeframe that we have to release add-ons. If you need the Citrix Receiver 9for example) right away, you can install the receiver from Citrix on the thin client or you can create your own package using WDM. See WDM Admin Guide for more details on this.

Q: Can we expect improvements to updates and the general web experience at finding things (downloads, forums, support, documents everywhere different, not sure where to look sometimes) going to improve with you coming under Dell ownership?

A: Yes. We are actively working on moving the downloads site to be consistent with Dell's processes.

I hope this answers your questions.
