one of your disks is at risk (smart event)

Every so often I get this message on Inspiron 15 5000

Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management Attention required One of your disks is at risk (SMART event)

Any ideas why and what causes it....I'm not able to find any other errors but concerned there is a hardware issue.

I also have this

Run the Dell diagnostics - F12 a few times at powerup to get in.

If you see an error such as 2000-0142, etc. the drive needs to be replaced.

A friend of mine also had this error. It turned out he did not have any Intel Optane memory installed, but yet the Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management software was installed.

Your screen shows "There are no valid disk pairs in your system". Do you know if you actually have any Intel Optane memory installed?  My friend uninstalled the Intel Optane Memory software per Dell's recommendation and the error went away. He was using a WD Green SN350 NVMe SSD and didn't need the Intel software.

When there is no Intel Optane memory installed, the Optane Memory and Storage Management software should not report "One of your disks is at risk" since no Optane memory exists.

I am getting the same error on my Dell Vostro 7510.  I don't believe that I have Optane memory, but to be sure, how can I confirm this?

Check in system setup (f2 at powerup) for the presence of an optane drive.  Bear in mind that Intel also sold some (otherwise slow) SSDs with built-in optane acceleration memory.
