With the 11th generation PowerEdge™ servers, Dell offers embedded management, which dramatically reduces the time it takes to perform common management tasks. Embedded management is composed of several interdependent components, including the Lifecycle Controller and the Unified Server Configurator (USC) interface.

The Lifecycle Controller is a flash chip embedded in the system itself, providing persistent, tamperproof storage for systems management components such as system BIOS, firmware, drivers and OpenManage™ tools.

The USC's main features include OS deployment, firmware updates, hardware configuration and diagnostics.
