Symptoms

This article applies to any modular enclosure using a Chassis Management Controller called CMC: M1000e, VRTX, FX2.

It explains how to use PuTTy to collect support logs from the CMC. These logs can be useful to troubleshoot an issue occurring at the chassis, blade, or console level.

Cause

Commands

RACDUMP

The command racdump may be all that you need to troubleshoot most issues.

DUMPLOGS

The command dumplogs is used by engineering and is required when escalating. To avoid having to gather additional logs later, it is suggested to gather racdump and dumplogs together.

Note: If you run dumplogs, it can take about a minute to scroll through the screen, so ensure that logging is enabled first. The file is a large text file.

Resolution

Run Commands

It is recommended to use  PuTTY to connect to the controller and gather logs.

    - getdcinfo
    - getpbinfo
    - getsel
    - getraclog
