Cause

Due to a technical limitation, the system may not be able to use the Alienware Graphics Amplifier while G-SYNC is enabled. All USB ports and screens connected to the Alienware Graphics Amplifier work and the system detects the video card, however, all graphics processing continues to be performed using the discrete card in the laptop. Read on for a workaround solution.

    Workaround

    For the graphics card in the Alienware Graphics Amplifier to perform the rendering, connect an external display to the amplifier and perform the following steps:

    1. Connect an external screen to the Alienware Graphics Amplifier

    2. Right-click your Windows desktop

    3. Click NVIDIA Control Panel

    4. Click Setup G-SYNC on the left side menu

    5. Clear the Enable G-SYNC checkbox

    6. Click Apply and close the NVIDIA Control Panel

    7. Right-click your Windows desktop

    8. Click Display Settings

    9. Select the External Screen

      • To identify the external screen, click Identify below the display selection box

    10. Under Multiple Displays, click Make this my main display

    11. Click Apply

    Now you can use the system in a 2-screen configuration, or you may choose to use the external screen only.

     

    Important: You may launch your game in window mode and drag it to the laptop LCD, but this may cause a performance drop.
